Bluegreen Communities is proud to partner with NAPE Expo to provide five lots and homes to disabled veterans as part of Texas-based Operation FINALLY HOME.
The five homes will be built in Bluegreen’s master-planned community, The Bridges at Preston Crossings, in Gunter, TX.
This non-profit program was established in 2005 by the Bay Area Builders Association and builder Dan Wallrath to provide custom homes to wounded and disabled veterans and widows of the fallen heroes in a effort to get their lives back on track. Operation FINALLY HOME is supported by corporate sponsors, individual contributors and volunteers to help these families transition from the battlefront to the homefront.
NAPE, one of the largest marketplace expos for oil and gas corporations, created its own American Heroes Fund in 2007 to support this worthy cause. Since its inception, NAPE has raised more than $1 million, with 100% going directly to the soldiers and their families.
“It is an honor for Bluegreen Communities to support the members of our military who have sacrificed so much to protect our country,” said Dan Koscher, president and CEO of Bluegreen Communities. “We are proud to be a part of Operation FINALLY HOME and are excited for these deserving families to call The Bridges home.”
The first two families to receive homes in The Bridges were announced at the NAPE Expo Luncheon on August 19 in Houston. They include war heroes Sergeant First Class Alan Hornaday and his wife, Sheila, of Fordyce, Arkansas, as well as Sergeant Levi Wilson, Jr. and his wife, Katie, of Fort Worth and McKinney, Texas.
The homes, designed by RDGS Architects of Celina, will be built by Ceci Bates Custom Homes and Yellow Rose Custom Homes
The city of Gunter welcomed the families to the community in a ceremony August 25 at The Bridges Golf Club, where the heroes got their first look at their new neighborhood and lots.
